• Founding and Early Years:
After serving in the Army and completing a tour in Vietnam, Tony embarked on a journey across the United States, working as a bartender in various locations from California, New York City and down to Florida. His experience included notable establishments such as the historic Ruben E. Lee Floating Restaurant in Newport Beach and Joseph’s Night Club in Fort Lauderdale. In 1977, Tony Sylvester established his first bartending school in Margate, Florida, which has since expanded to become one of the largest bartender training institutions in the country, with multiple locations nationwide.

ABC Bartending Schools has expanded significantly since its inception, becoming one of the largest bartender training establishments in the United States, with locations across the country. ABC is a pillar in the hospitality industry for decades and has trained and placed thousands nationwide.

The Sylvester family has a rich legacy in the hospitality industry, beginning with Tony Sylvester Sr., who worked as a bartender at the Hansville Inn in 1964, and his brother Mickey Sylvester, who bartended at the Poncho Tavern in 1947. Tony Sylvester himself has bartended in various cities, including Los Angeles, New York City, and Fort Lauderdale’s intercoastal area, while his son AJ has also made his mark by bartending on Las Olas Boulevard on Fort Lauderdale’s beach.
